FREDERICKSBURG—Former Southampton Academy student Lindsay Raulston has earned the Capital Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week, after clinching a team victory at No. 1 singles against George Mason.

“CAC Player of the Week is an awesome honor,” she said. “It’s always great to be recognized by your school and your conference for your hard work and success.”

The victory was a come-from-behind effort led by wthe University of Mary Washington senior. The Eagles are 3-1 on the year, and play at No. 10 Pomona-Pitzer on Friday at 5 p.m.

“I’m so excited for the season this year,” she said. “We have a really strong and dedicated team who plays hard for each other no matter what. We just returned from our spring break trip to California, where we gained some great experience playing against top 15 schools.”

Raulston was the CAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for March 5. Raulston opened the season with 3-1 marks at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles as the Eagles’ notched shutout wins against Christopher Newport and Methodist, and topped Division I George Mason.

In the Eagles’ 4-3 victory over George Mason, Raulston delivered the match-clinching win with a come-from-behind 1-6, 7-6, 6-3 triumph at the No.1 singles spot.

“Overall, I think we are in a perfect position right now. I think we have a great chance at being a top 15 school this year, and as a senior, I am really looking forward to going out with a bang in season matches, the conference tournament and the NCAAs.”
