FRANKLIN—A tall, quick, aggressive Park View Dragon basketball team blew out the Franklin Broncos 71-54 at the Peggy Wilkins Gym in Franklin High School on Monday.

Franklin Broncos Head Coach Danny Dillon remarked after the game that the Dragons are one of the top teams in the state.

“But even with that, we were not done fighting even while we were down,” Dillon said. The Broncos are ranked No. 12 for teams in division 1.

The Dragons opened the game aggressively, creating turnovers to take a 15-10 first quarter lead. The Broncos’ Fred Lassiter kept the Broncos in the game as he dropped in 6 of his 13 total points during the first quarter.

The Broncos made their best run at the Dragons in the second quarter, as Lassiter put the home team ahead following a basket and a foul shot, 16-15 at 5:33 in the second quarter. But the Dragons answered back quickly and went back ahead 22-16 by the 4:05 minute mark. Bronco Marcus Stevens brought the home team to its last closest score for the remainder of the game 22-19 following his 3-point shot. The Dragons from that point pushed their lead to 39-22 by the end of the first half.

In both the third and fourth quarters the Broncos matched the Dragons in scoring with 14 and 18 points per quarter. But without being able to generate a major move on either offense or defense, they were not able to pose any threat to the lead the Dragons had built up by half time.

The Broncos had four players in double figures. They were led by Lassiter with 13 points, Marcus Stephens with 12 points and Terry Warren and Quintin Lowe both put up 11 points. For the Dragons, Kasmeir Smith led their scoring with 21 points and Matt Brown followed with 14.
