ISLE OF WIGHT—The search for a man suspected of abducting and sexually assaulting an 11-year-old Carrollton girl last fall has not stopped. But nor has it progressed, according to a representative of the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office.

“That’s still an active case under investigation,” said Capt. Rick Gaddis. “There are no new developments we can speak. None at all, honestly.”

The child reported that on the morning of Oct. 2, while she was walking to a bus stop near her home, a white man drove up and took her captive. He took them to two places for his assaults, the second of which has been located off Route 258 (Courthouse Highway) in Isle of Wight County. At one point, the man and child were seen on Quaker Road in Suffolk. The other location has not been identified, but is believed to be somewhere in southeast Virginia or northeast North Carolina, within about two hours’ drive of Carrollton.

The suspect released her close to the scene of the abduction, and she contacted her parents at about 12:30 p.m.

The man is also described as having visible freckles, of medium build, short blond hair with a thin beard of blond and white whiskers, but no moustache. He has bushy blond eyebrows, blue eyes, sometimes wore round brown eyeglasses, large full lips, slightly yellowed teeth and a wide nose.

The car was described as a gray or silver Chevy two-door (possibly a Cavalier) with a Virginia State inspection sticker. The interior was black and gray with leather or vinyl’s seats.
