FRANKLIN—In the next hour or two, it should start snowing, said Lyle Alexander, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wakefield.

“It is going to be kind of a steady snow for most of the evening, ending toward midnight,” he said. “Look for around 2-3 inches of accumulation.”

Alexander added that it could come down heavy for brief periods.

“It is a combination of the upper system and the low pressure on the coast that is causing the snow to develop,” he said. “The whole thing should move out pretty fast tonight.”

It is going to be windy tonight, he added, and that the wind chill would be near 0 degrees in the morning.

The high for tomorrow is in the lower 20s, with the lows in the mid teens. Temperatures will stay below freezing Thursday and Friday, around 30 degrees, Alexander said. Over the weekend, it will warm back up in the 40s.
