To the Editor:

As reported on the front page of the TN dated 1/12/14, my family and I would like to deeply thank all those who helped save my life on 12/27/13. From what began at the BFCU with Hilliary Gunn’s quick action to perform CPR to revive my heart; all the way to Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, we were amazed at all the people who came together to make this process work. A community (a body of people sharing living in the same place under the same set of laws) came together to make the continuation of my life a reality.

To each and every person who participated in this process I say humbly, “Thank you from the bottom of my heart!” From Hillary Gunn, Katrina Manley, all BFCU staff, to the Franklin City Rescue Squad, the emergency room staff at Southampton Memorial Hospital who stabilized me, to Dr. Alan Edwards, who expedited the decision to send me to the heart hospital, to the ambulance drivers, who skillfully made the ride from SMH to Sentara in 55 minutes, to the staff at Sentara Heart Hospital, to my family, to my pastors and family of the Rock Church of Franklin, and all the friends, churches, and aquaitances, who sent up prayers, sent cards, or visited and prayed, I want to thank you. Prayer really works. I am thankful to be alive and I have come to realize with each passing day how great God and his people truly are. We live in a special community where people truly care about one another and show it by crying out to God. I AM LIVING PROOF OF THIS, and my family and I are grateful for you all.
