CARRSVILLE—A reported frozen pipe in the Carrsville area has left Carrsville Elementary School without running water. Students are being dismissed early today at 1 p.m., according to Kenita Bowers, spokeswoman for the Isle of Wight County School Division.

However, lunch is still being provided, and buses will arrive at 1 p.m. to take all students who normally ride to school, she added.

“Our facilities department is working with the county to resolve this matter as quickly as possible,” Bowers continued. “At this time, we are unable to determine whether or not school will be open tomorrow, Jan. 9 so parents are encouraged to please stay tuned to our Connect 5 messaging system and the school’s website for any updates. We will continue to provide information as it is received from the county.”

Laura Matthews, the principal, is contacting all students’ parents through the school division’s Connect 5 messaging system. Further, the staff is also contacting parents by grade level to inform them that arrangements will need to be made for children.
