NEWSOMS–David Earl Pope, Sr., 55, passed away January 4, 2014 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was born August 6, 1958 in Franklin. David Earl was an avid race car driver, hunter, fisherman, and gardener. He was a person with a big, caring heart for helping people any way he could, even when he was fighting his battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father, Junius (Kingfish) Pope.
Left to cherish his memory is his faithful wife of 31 years, Sherry Pope; son, David Earl “Boo Boo” Pope, Jr.; mother, Charlotte Rasnak; two sisters, Kathy Darden (Hunter) and Robin Powell (Edwin); brother, Dale Henry Pope (Debbie); very special In laws, Gloria and Wayne Vick and many nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church, Newsoms Hunt Club, Bronco Rod and Gun Club and the Wild Turkey Federation.
The funeral service will be at 2 PM Wednesday, January 8, at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with Rev. Kenneth Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms.
