There were no accidents, fatalities or even arrests made on New Year’s Eve and Day in Franklin, according to Capt. Tim Whitt, city police spokesman. But the holiday was not entirely peaceful.

He reported Thursday of “an unruly crowd at the Sportsman’s Association on South Street after a party concluded at 1:59 a.m.” Whitt added there was another report of disorderly crowd at the Huddle House on Armory Drive just 16 minutes later into the new year.

Also within the first couple of hours were reports of multiple shots fired in the 700 block of Cameron Street and the 200 block of Bracy Street (both 12:02 a.m.); 200 block of Forest Pines (12:04 a.m.); and Webb Commons (2:10 a.m.);

The Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office reported only a DUI arrest that was made at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on Poor House Road.

The Southampton County reported vehicle accidents, a tow truck required and fireworks occurring on Tuesday and Wednesday.
