ZUNI— The Tabernacle of Praise Baptist Church of Zuni did not have to look far to find a script for its annual Christmas program. Christin Nichols a member of the church and a graduate student at Virginia Commonwealth University wrote, directed, produced and starred in the original play entitled, “Escaping Midnight,” which opened at their church on Sunday.

The original play depicted scenes that were representations of the economic struggle many families are facing. It culminated with the joy of reaching out to others, sharing the knowledge of Christ’s love for us and making the sacrifice to share with others who are less fortunate than we are during this season of giving.

In comments that she made to the church at the close of the play, Nichols stated, “we might not have everything that we want, but God will give us want we need.”

Nichols is a 2009 graduate of Southampton High School and a graduate of VCU receiving a degree in early childhood education. She is working on her master’s degree, also in early childhood education.
