COURTLAND—Just in time for Christmas comes the announcement of a new business and opportunities for employment.

Providence Agriculture LLC is coming to the Southampton Business Park, just off Highway 58 in Courtland. Amanda Jarratt, president and chief executive officer of the Franklin Southampton Economic Development Inc., delivered the news Monday through a press release to The Tidewater News.

“This will lead to the creation of approximately 10 jobs in the first phase and is a higher and better use of the Business Park,” stated Jarratt.

Providence Agriculture will lease office and warehouse space from Southampton Terminals, which is on Agri Park Drive, she wrote. Jarratt added that the company’s a full-service distributor of crop protection chemicals, seed, fertilizer, adjuvants, surfactants and micro-nutrients.

“The parent company, Pinnacle Agriculture Holdings LLC, and its family of companies including Jimmy Sanders, Innvictis and Providence, have been in the agricultural retail business for over 60 years,” she continued.

“FSEDI facilitated meetings between the company and building owner and will continue to work with them to implement their growth plan in the Franklin-Southampton area,” Jarratt wrote. “We wish Providence Agriculture much luck with their new endeavor and know the company will be a great asset to our community.”
