FRANKLIN – Bishop Joseph Tubbs, 79, of Franklin, VA died December 20, 2013.
Bishop Tubbs (lovingly known as “Pop-Pop”), son of Margaret Tubbs, loving husband of Evangelist Beaunia Tubbs, passed away on December 20th at his home in Franklin, VA after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Beaunia (Lena), and three daughters; Beverly Alston Flagg (Larry), L. Regina Wade (Barry), and Shuwanda Alston Coffee. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Katrina Blanton (Lorenzo), Lauren Flagg and Morio Coffee. Bishop Tubbs pastured churches in New Jersey before founding the Tabernacle of Holiness in Franklin. He also was the Dean of the Franklin campus of the Eagle Bible Institute. Bishop Tubbs served his country in the United States Air Force and subsequently drove commercial trucks. His life had a threefold purpose: faith, family and fishing. He lived to serve God and preach. He was demonstrative in his love for his wife and family, but whenever time and weather would allow, he wanted to be fishing. Services will be held Saturday, December 28th at Tabernacle of Holiness Church, 408 Franklin St., Franklin, VA. 23851. Viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. and funeral services begin at 12:00 noon.
