FRANKLIN – Mrs. Percie Edna Scott, 98, of Madison Street, Franklin, VA, passed December 6, 2013. The Como, NC native was born October 18, 1915 to Julian and Rebecca Wells.

Mrs. Scott attended Mill Neck Grammar School and was a 1933 graduate of Water Training School in Winton, NC. Shortly after graduation, she married William J. Scott, Sr. and five children were born to that union. At an early age, she joined Mill Neck Baptist Church in Como, NC. Upon the death of her father, she moved to Franklin and joined First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Missionary Circle and the choir. In the early 1960’s, she located to Richmond, VA but continued to be an active member of First Baptist Church until her demise.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, William J. Scott, Jr., two sisters, Suetta Mangum and Eva Stokes. She is survived by four daughters, Helen Brackett (John) of Richmond, VA, Edna Holloway (John), Christine Lawrence (Clifton) and Evelyn Blick, all of Franklin, VA; sister, Dorothy Stokes; ten grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephew, and many other relatives.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM, First Baptist Church, 318 Hall Street, Franklin, VA, with the pastor, Reverend D. Shawrod Riddick delivering the message of comfort. The interment will be in Southview Cemetery. The family will assemble at 811 Walnut Street, Franklin.
