Nancy Burgess

KEY WEST, Fl.- Nancy Juanita Dilday Burgess, R.N., 80, of Sedley, Va and Cudjoe Key, Fl passed away peacefully on December 7, 2013 in Key West, Florida at the Lower Keys Medical Center. Juanita was a graduate of Murfreesboro High School and the The Roanoke Rapids Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She dedicated her life to nursing others, being a committed wife and an outstanding mother and a woman of great Faith. Her kind and compassionate way, through the Grace of God, helped her to live a sacrificial life serving her family and friends her whole life.

She was born September 24, 1933 in Winton, NC and had lived in the Franklin, Va area for nearly 60 years, first employed by Southampton Memorial Hospital and later worked in the private sector as a Registered Nurse. After retirement she and her husband spend much time in the Florida Keys. Juanita was a member of the Sedley Baptist Church and Big Pine Baptist church. She enjoyed gardening, beautiful flowers, her “pet” humming birds, was an avid reader, amazing cook, and loved her dog, Casie.

Juanita is survived by F. William Burgess, her husband of 62 years, of Sedley, Va/Cudjoe Key, Fl, one son, David Burgess and wife Beverly Burgess of Mechanicsville, Va, one daughter, Dawn Burgess Rudolph, of Nags Head, NC/Prince George, Va and four grandchildren: Lindsay and Kendall Burgess, both of Mechanicsville, Va; Jessiah and Justin Rudolph both of Kitty Hawk, NC.

A Celebration of Life Service is planned to be held at the Sedley Baptist Church on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 2:00P.M., with light refreshments to be served in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service
