SUFFOLK—Folks who want to ring in the New Year without leaving the city — and still support a charity in the process — will find it all at the Hilton Garden Inn on East Constance Road on Dec. 31.

The Cover 3 Foundation’s Kids’ Meals program, which feeds about 4,000 young people in after-school programs in the area, will benefit from the event.

“We’re excited about it,” said Greg Scott, a retired NFL defensive lineman and founder of the Cover 3 Foundation. “We wanted to put together something really nice and come out and start the New Year off right.”

The event will include food and beverages, including a champagne toast at midnight, as well as music and dancing. Special guests, including pro athletes Scott wouldn’t reveal, will be on hand to meet and greet guests.

The event will start at 9 p.m. and end at 1 a.m.

A single ticket will cost $60, and a four-person package with an overnight stay and breakfast at the hotel will cost $350. Packages for two and three people are also available.

Local sponsors include Cover 3 Foundation, Hilton Garden Inn and Obici Healthcare Foundation. Local radio stations WLQM and 95.7 are offering chances to win event tickets to listeners.

“It’s going to be a night of food, fun, dancing, drinks and special guests,” Scott said. “We’re going to have fun.”

The Cover 3 Foundation began in 2009 and, in addition to the meals program, provides positive athletic, mentoring and community service opportunities for youth.
