FRANKLIN—The Franklin Broncos will take on the Altavista Colonels tonight at 7 o’clock in Altavista for round three of the 1A Virginia postseason.

“We had a great week of practice,” said Head Coach Darren Parker. “The kids are excited about the game on Friday night. As coaches, we fell back to the drawing board and made a few adjustments here and there.”

Of the Colonels, Parker said they are athletic, run multiple formations on offense and blitz the linebackers on defense a bit.

“We want to make sure we are very physical for all four quarters of football,” he said. “We believe that the team that is the most physical, disciplined and that executes the best is going to win. We’re looking good in all three.

“We have stressed as a coaching staff, and the kids have stressed themselves, that you have to come out playing your A game from the coin toss. The deeper you go in the postseason, you have to bring your A game.”

The Broncos met the Colonels in the postseason last year for the same game, and defeated them.

“They have improved from last year, and we have improved from last year,” he said. “I’m looking forward to a great game of football.

“We’re playing well in all three phases of the game. We’ve improved tremendously since the middle of the season.”

The school is busing fans up for the game.

“I’m excited to have support from the school community,” Parker said. “It is always great to play in front of our fans – they are very supportive.

“God is always awesome. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone out there Friday night. We will be playing Franklin Bronco football. We’ll stress being a physical, hard-nosed team. It’s playoff time, and the team that wants it the most is going to win. We want it bad. We’re hungry. We’re looking forward to it.”
