Shelford Gaston Majette

Master Sgt. Retired Shelford Gaston Majette of Homestead Lane, Franklin, VA was ushered into his heavenly home on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Southampton County to the late Shelford and Carrie Lee Majette.

Shelford was a graduate of Hayden High school class of 1955. He served 20 years in the United States Navy where he retired. Shelford also was employed for 23 years for the Virginia Department of Corrections. He was a member of Trinity Outreach Ministries where he served as a Deacon.

His survivors include his devoted wife, Pastor Pauline T. Majette; two daughters, Maryette Barnes, Bonnie D. Pope (Benjamin); three sons, Terrance D. Baker (Nickelle), Robert D. Baker (Adienne), Dewayne Turner (Kisha); one sister, Yvonne Majette; three brothers, Rufus C. Majette, Curtis Long, Shelton Jewette, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A homegoing service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, November 25, 2013, East End Church of God with Apostle Albert Evans delivering the eulogy; Bishop S.D. Willis is pastor. The committal and benediction will be held in Albert G. Horton Cemetery, Suffolk, VA on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. On the day of service, his remains will be placed in church for viewing by 10:00 AM. A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 224 South Main Street, Franklin, VA.
