Burton C. Bradshaw

FRANKLIN—Burton Cox Bradshaw, Sr., 82, passed away November 11, 2013 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Lifelong resident of Franklin, he was a son of the late Elmer Amos and Lillie Jane Cox Bradshaw. Other than his parents, Mr. Bradshaw was predeceased by a son, Stephen Benjamin Bradshaw; two sisters, Sara B. Evans and Marian DeBord and brother, Elmer A. Bradshaw, Jr.

He was a retired supervisor in the Pulp Mill with Union Camp Corporation with 32 years with the company and a long-time member of Franklin Baptist Church. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of the War of 1812 – Virginia Society and Sons of Confederate Veterans – Urquhart – Gillette Camp.

Survivors include his wife, Ray Poland Bradshaw; son, Burton Cox “Brad” Bradshaw, Jr. and wife, Debby; grandchildren, Burton Cox “Tres” Bradshaw, III (Anne) and Lisa Michelle Bradshaw Biler and one great-grandchild, Burton Cox Bradshaw, IV.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Brent Kimlick and the Rev. Steve Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday and suggest that memorial donations be made to Franklin Baptist Church Building Fund (for repairs currently going on at the church). www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
