FRANKLIN –Deaconess Willie Mae Lawrence of Pocahontas Avenue, Franklin, VA departed this life on November 5, 2013, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was born August 19, 1924 in Nansemond County, VA.

Mrs. Lawrence was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board, Willing Workers Ministry and the Hospitality Committee. She was also a member of the Oak Street Senior Citizen’s Group.

Mrs. Lawrence was preceded in death by her husband, Malachi Lawrence and survived by, two daughters, Ethel Everette (Morris), Irma Jean Lawrence, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2013, Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1071 Carrsville Hwy., Franklin, VA, with the pastor, Reverend Alfred Brown, Sr. delivering the eulogy. A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 224 South Main Street, Franklin, VA.
