Marvin R. Wise, Sr.

CARRSVILLE – Marvin Ray Wise, Sr., 83, passed away October 22, 2013. He was one of ten children of the late St. Piere and Eula Schumpert Wise and was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Mary Brooks Wise, who passed away May 16, 2010.

Mr. Wise was a retired Millwright from Union Camp Corporation with 46 years of service and was a former Pulp Sulfide and Paper Mill Union President of Local 505 for seven years.

Mr. Wise enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1947 serving as a Military Policeman on the Franklin D. Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier and went around the world before being separated in 1950. He was a lifetime member of the Bronco Rod and Gun Club.

Survivors include his children, Marvin Wise, Jr., and wife, Geri, Larry Wise, and wife, Denise, all of Franklin, Carolyn Cook, and husband, Troy, of Zuni and Chris Wise, and wife, Crystal, of Chester; his sister, Mary Stanley, and husband, J.V., of Smithfield, VA; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer Wise Whitehurst, Jason Brooks Wise, Nancy Wise Kidd, Natalie Wise Seal, Amanda Caulder Ritter, Kelly Wise Young, Larry W. Wise, II, Sarah Wise Pittman, Shelby Cook Thorpe, Christopher Wise, Jr. and Carmen Lynn Wise; 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin with Pastor Matt Kidd officiating. Burial will follow at Southampton Memorial Park.
