Laurel Street burglary suspect arrested

FRANKLIN—A burglary suspect is in Western Tidewater Regional Jail after an alert neighbor called police about a suspicious person going behind a house in the 500 block of Laurel Street on Wednesday.
At around 7:50 a.m., the suspect attempted to break into the home through the back door and window, but was unable to gain entry before the officer arrived. The suspect fled on sight of the officer, but was caught after a short pursuit.
Shamall Trotman, 18, of the 200 block of Yeidee Street, was charged with attempted burglary and remanded to the jail.
