FRANKLIN—Franklin golf finished the season fourth in the district, with a record of 5-19-1.

Coach Dave Lease said the competition was a lot better, and that his young team would have to improve.

“Southampton has a good group of golfers,” he said. “Park View has some good golfers.

“The competition was a lot stronger this year than it has been in the past. But we’re a very young team. I’ve got one senior, one junior, two sophomores and two freshmen.”

Freshman Brandon Elythe led the team in average, with a mark of 52 over 9-hole district play. Senior Oakley Sthole finished with an average of 53. Junior Tevin Boone finished with an average of 54.

Sophomore Timothy Kreider (62), sophomore Chance McCoy (68) and freshman Conner Shanks (68) rounded out the team.

“We’re losing one senior, and we’ve got five coming back,” Lease said. “We’ll have to do some recruiting throughout the school, and we’ve got to do a lot of work if we are going to compete in the district.

“With the caliber of competition we have, we’ve got to step up our game.”
