To the Editor:

I learned today that there are no federal food inspections going on for imported food. So would that not be putting the American public in serious jeopardy? I don’t mean just from food poisoning, either. Suppose al-Qaeda radiated a shipload of say, rice, to the United States. Dirty bomb by food. It kills 10,000 people. Who would be responsible for letting that happen? Who would go to jail?
