Fall means football season is heating up

Indians hosting Eagles

The Southampton Indians will bring the Greensville County Eagles to Courtland for a showdown. The boys from Courtland have been having a week of practice, and despite some serious injuries to their linemen, they’re excited and ready to get on the field tonight at 7 p.m.

“They’re fast and not as big and strong as the teams we’ve played in the past, but we still have to be focused,” said Coach Willie Gillus when speaking on the Eagles.

Broncos invite Bulldogs to Franklin

The Franklin Broncos will take on the Brunswick Bulldogs on their home field in Franklin. With a week of practice and executing plays on point, the Broncos are looking forward to this game.

“They’re a big team and very disciplined,” said Broncos Coach Darren Parker about the Bulldogs. “We’ve watched a lot of film and prepared for this game.”

Raiders traveling to Eagles’ territory

The Raiders of Southampton Academy will head to Lasker, N.C., to go against the Northeast Academy Eagles. The Raiders have made do with a practice week filled with films and exercises indoors due to the rain.

“They’re not the strongest team we’ve played this year, but we’re just really preparing for their sets as we’d do against any other team,” said Coach Dale Marks about Northeastern Academy. “One person we have to watch for though is Trey Futrell. He’s their go-to guy.”

There are no serious injuries plaguing the Southampton Academy Raiders kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Windsor hosting Surry County for homecoming

The Windsor Dukes are hoping for home field advantage over the Surry County Cougars this homecoming Friday.

“Surry is a good football team,” said Coach Chuck Parrish of Windsor. “They’re very athletic with a lot of speed.”

Aside from minor injuries, the Dukes are healthy and geared up for this homecoming showdown which will begin at 7 p.m.

Chargers taking on Saints

Isle of Wight Academy is ready to open its doors to St. Anne’s – Belfield of Charlottesville. This game is expected to be very intense.
