Mr. Milloyd D. Wright of Angelico Road, Capron, VA, passed October 4, 2013, while a patient in Southampton Memorial Hospital. The Southampton County native was born January 5, 1952 to Ellis B. Wright, Sr. and Grace B. Wright.

Milloyd attended Southampton Public Schools, graduating from Riverview High School in 1970. In 1970, Milloyd matriculated from high school into Virginia State College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in 1974. During his undergraduate years, he became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. From his alma mater, Virginia State University, he acquired a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.

At an early age, Milloyd became a member of Pine Level Baptist Church, where he served on the Trustee Board and the Male Chorus. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections.

He was preceded in death by his father, and two sisters, Geraldine Lewis and Grace A. Lee. Milloyd is survived by his wife, Syretha C. Wright; two daughters, Millita E. Wright, Kristen N. Wright; his mother, Grace B. Wright; two sisters, Jean Smith (Stanley), Ethel Jones (William); brothers, Ellis B. Wright, Jr. (Virginia), Marshall B. Wright (Anita); three grandchildren, two aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

On Thursday, October 10, 2013, a wake will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Pine Level Baptist Church, 23035 Church Street, Capron, VA. A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 11, 2013, Mount Tabor Baptist Church, 28668 Main Street, Newsoms, VA, with Reverend Keith Rose delivering the message of comfort; Reverend Jeremiah Cole is pastor.

On the day of service, his remains will be placed in church for viewing by 11:00 AM. The committal and benediction will be in Pine Level Cemetery.
