Southampton High School band wins awards

The Southampton Marching Indians won six trophies at the Greensville Classic competition.
COURTLAND—The Marching Indians of Southampton High School won six trophies last Saturday at the Greensville Classic Competition.
Led by captains Shannon Hawkins and Shakira Artis, the flags placed second.
Percussion also placed second. Charles “CT” Branch and Brandon Clarke are section leaders. Dancers placed second, and the captains are Britney Johnson and Brianna Whitfield.
Vincente Jarrette, drum major, placed second, along with the band’s second place in music.
The majorettes earned first place, and the captains are Melia Hill, Kristan Lane and Terri Evans.
Southampton High School senior Melia Hill, a twirler, holds the first place AA majorette award. With her is senior Vincente Jarratt, a drum major, with the second-place award for drum major. They were part of the Marching Indians who participated last Saturday in the Greensville Classic Competition. — SUBMITTED
