WALTERS—A Walters man has been arrested on charges of forcible sodomy of a 5-year-old girl and six counts of having child pornography, stated Kristen Wilda in a press release for the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office.

Cecil John Dunlap, 66, of the 4300 block of Joyner Street, was charged and arrested Sept. 17 by the sheriff’s office investigators.

Capt. Rick Gaddis said one of the child’s family members reported the suspect to the authorities.

After a search warrant was made, child pornography was found on the suspect’s computer.

Both warrants were served Sept. 19 at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail in Suffolk, where he remains incarcerated as of this publication.

Wilda stated that the suspect and victim were known to one another, and that the alleged crime took place in Dunlap’s home.

No further information will be released in order to protect the victim’s identity, said Wilda.
