FRANKLIN – Pastor Celestine B. Banks, 82, was called home to rest on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, VA surrounded by family, after a short illness.

A longtime resident of Franklin; after completing Business College in Raleigh, N.C. she had a very successful career as an insurance agent with Universal Life Insurance Co., until she did an early retirement and started a business of her own; pursuing her passion of selling and working with people, later becoming the full time Pastor at Mt. Calvary Holiness Church in Suffolk, VA she pastored over 23 years after the passing of her Mother the late Evangelist Beulah Bailey. Prior to becoming full time Pastor at Mt. Calvary she served faithfully as Assistant Pastor to her mother who was the founder of Mt. Calvary Holiness Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband David L. Banks; her parents Isaac Boone and Beulah Boone Bailey, one sister, Ann Boone; one brother, James Boone and a son, Michael Lee Banks.

Those left to cherish her memory include daughters, Gloria J. Warren (David) of Carrolton, VA and Pamela B. Alexander of Hampton, VA; sons, Calvin L. Boone, of Franklin and Johnnie F. Boone, of San Diego California; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren and one step great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, guard children and friends; three dedicated caretakers.

A dedicated Pastor, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Godmother, and Friend we all will miss her dearly, a beautiful angel sent from God; who have loved and served us so well.

A Home going service will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, September 28, 2013 at East End Church of God, 410 East Street, Franklin. Interment will follow at Southview Cemetery. Wake will be held at Vaughn Funeral Home, 1717 South Street, Franklin, Friday evening, 6PM-8PM.
