FRANKLIN—It was a long Friday night on Sept. 20 in Franklin for the visiting Charles City County Panthers. They never saw the light as the Franklin Broncos crushed them 56-0.

“We executed in all three phases of the game, and we played a full game and that is what we have been looking for all season,” said Bronco Head Coach Darren Parker after the game.

The Broncos had a big first quarter as they scored on every possession, adding 42 points to the scoreboard.

On the Broncos first possession and first play from scrimmage, Marcus Stephens went the distance of 82 yards for the first Bronco touchdown. Angel Padilla added the extra point for the 7-0 lead.

About one minute later after a tough defensive series by the Broncos, Latrell Lane added 6 points for the Broncos on an 8-yard touchdown run. The Padilla kick was no good as the score started its growth to 13-0.

Next, Bronco Terry Warren fell on a Panther fumble, and the next series resulted in a 20 yard touchdown run for Stephens. The Padilla kick was good and the score advanced to 20-0.

The next Bronco score came when quarterback LaQuadric Pittman went to the air and connected with Corey Porter on a 30-yard touchdown pass. Padilla booted the extra point to give the home team a 27-0 lead.

The Bronco defensive unit dug in again on the next Panther possession forcing a punt. On the punt return for the Broncos, Marcus Stephens outran the Panthers and went untouched across the goal line for a 67-yard touchdown. The Broncos went for a two-point conversion and were successful on a Lane run. The Broncos were now up 35-0.

Javonte Baker added the last touchdown for the first quarter at the buzzer on a 2-yard run. Padilla did his thing on the point after and the score moved a little more for the home team to 42-0.

In the second quarter, with both coaches agreeing, the remainder of the game was played with a running clock. The only Bronco score during the quarter came on an 8-yard run by Baker. After the successful Padilla kick the score, which held until halftime, was 49 -0.

The final score of the game came late in the fourth quarter on a 3 yard run by Quayshawn Jefferson. The Padilla kick concluded the scoring for the game at 56-0.

Credit the Bronco defense for holding the Panthers to 4 first downs and a total net of 22 yards.

Four Broncos each had three tackles in the person of Quayshawn Jefferson, Terry Warren, Lynn Lawson and J’Corey Williams.

Marcus Stephens led all rushers with 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. Baker followed him with 77 yards and two touchdowns.

Franklin Head Coach Darren Parker remarked after the game, “The team has to continue to grow and improve every week. God is great and awesome,” he added

The Broncos are now 4-0 and will be on the road for the next two weeks. They will return home on Oct. 11 against Brunswick.
