Rose is Western Tidewater’s Player of the Week

COURTLAND—Quarterback Matt Rose of Southampton Academy is Western Tidewater’s Player of the Week.

Rose and his teammates, the Raiders, traveled to Merry Hill, N.C., and defeated the Lawrence Academy Warriors 46-6 on Friday.

In the victory, Rose passed for 113 yards and threw one touchdown. Rose also had 2 carries for 15 yards and one touchdown. Rose had a two-point conversion as well.

On defense, Rose is a linebacker, and he had 11 tackles and one pass deflection.

The runner up this week was Gage Rogers of the Isle of Wight Chargers, who had defeated the Portsmouth Christian Patriots 42-28 also on Friday.

Gage, a wide receiver, had 4 receptions for 106 yards, including one reception netting 48-yards. He caught 3 touchdown passes. Rogers also had three carries for 7 yards. On defense, Rogers plays safety.
