Janet McFaden Belter

Janet McFaden Belter, 54, of Charles Drive, Appomattox, VA, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Douglas William Belter for 33 years and the love of his life.

Born in Bethesda, Maryland, she was the daughter of Shelby Roden McFaden of Lynchburg and the late Robert Owen McFaden. In 1977, Janet went to work for Barbara Williams in the Appomattox Circuit Court Office and in 1991 was elected as Treasurer for Appomattox County. Janet was more than a boss to her staff, she was their friend. She was someone who many came to for advice and guidance, knowing that she was a trustworthy friend and confidant. Janet traveled every weekend visiting her grandchildren and never missed a ball game, a school function, birthdays or shopping trips.

In addition to her husband, Doug and mother, Shelby, she is survived by a son, Chris Belter and wife, Becca of Capron, VA; a daughter, Jenny Belter Millner and husband, Ben of Ivor, VA; four grandchildren, Cameron (11), Isabella(8) and Alex(6) Belter and Benton Millner (7 months); three sisters, Carol Martin and husband, Jimmy of Gladstone, Frances Gilliam and husband, Glenn of Concord, and Bobbie Mull and husband, Willie of Forest; four nieces, Hilary Thompson, Amy Bigham, Whitney Puckette, Kayli Mull; and two nephews, Chris and Billy Mull.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2013, at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Gene Beverly. The family will receive friends following the service.
