ISLE OF WIGHT—The late Sgt. Jeffrey A. Storm of Isle of Wight County was remembered during a ceremony Tuesday when Sheriff Mark Marshall recognized Storm as Deputy of the Quarter for April through June.

He was honored posthumously for “outstanding service and commitment to the residents of Isle of Wight County and the law enforcement community,” said Kristen Wilda, sheriff’s department spokeswoman.

Storm died the afternoon of April 7 when the motorcycle he was driving ran off the road on Walters Highway, ejecting him. He was 52 years old.

The Sheriff’s Department had welcomed Storm as a patrol deputy in 1995, and promoted him to sergeant in 2000. He had working as an administrative sergeant and crime prevention specialist.

“Jeff embodied all the qualities that this award recognizes: commitment, diligence, and honor,” said Marshall. “He is greatly missed and certainly will never be forgotten.”

Carey Mills Storm, his widow, was presented a certificate during a brief ceremony.

“I did not know he was going to be honored, but I was happy to receive it on his behalf,” she said.
