Dora L. Ruffin

FRANKLIN—Deaconess Dora L. Ruffin of Bank Street, Franklin, VA departed this life to claim her eternal reward on June 6, 2013, while resting peacefully in her home. She was born August 28, 1933 to Alice Patterson and the late David Riddick.

Deaconess Ruffin was a member of St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church where she served on the Deaconess Board and Hospitality Committee. She was also a member of the Berkeley Women’s Club and President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #183.

Dora was married to Carlton A. Ruffin in 1954 and remained a devoted wife until his passing in 2001. She is survived by two daughters, Theandres Ruffin of Richmond, VA, Daphne Y. Ruffin of Franklin, VA; two sons, Carlton T. Ruffin (Tina) of Berlin, Germany, Raynard Ruffin (Nichole) of VA Beach, VA; six sisters, one brother, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

A homegoing service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, Move of God Church, 221 South Main Street, Franklin, VA with Reverend Edmund Whitley delivering the eulogy; Apostle Tyrone Hart is pastor.
