Helen Crocker Curle

COMO—Helen Crocker Curle, 87, passed away June 6, 2013. Born in Sterling, Va., and reared in Grover, NC, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret Jones Crocker. She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Taylor. Mrs. Curle, who attended Gardner Webb College and was a graduate of the Women’s College of Greensboro, taught 4th and 5th grade at Murfreesboro and Riverview elementary school in Murfreesboro for 34 years. She was a 20-year member of the Como Town Council and a former volunteer with the Murfreesboro Historical Society. Mrs. Curle was an active member of Buckhorn Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Janet Curle Fodrie and her husband, David, of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Randy Vick and his wife, Jessica, of Portsmouth, VA and Brandy Vick of Como; great-grandchildren, Daniel Winne, II and Ryan Vick and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Buckhorn Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Sean Gallagher officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence and suggest memorials be made to Buckhorn Baptist Church. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, VA is assisting the family.www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
