Beverly (Bev) W. Browne

FRANKLIN—Beverly (Bev) Watkinson Browne, 80, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his residence in Atlanta, GA. Bev was born on December 22, 1932 in Franklin, VA to Winston and Alma Browne. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1950, the Woodbury Forest School in 1952 and the University of Virginia in 1956. After UVA, Bev became an Artillery Officer for the first Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. Upon completion of his service, Bev entered the Paper Industry. He lived and traveled all over the country with several different organizations. In 1979, he took a position as President of Diameter Paper Company in Atlanta, where he retired in 2005. Growing up on a farm in rural Franklin, VA, Bev loved the outdoors and excelled in sports. Throughout his life, he could just as easily be found hunting Quail or Duck as playing tennis or golf. However, after retirement, Bev on most days could be found on the golf course.

Bev is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Browne; son, Judson Browne of Atlanta, GA; son, David Browne of Boca Raton, FL and his wife, Kim, and their children, Jackson and Peyton; brother, Dr. Winston Browne, Jr. of Boykins, VA; and sister, Alma O’Hara of Atlanta, GA and her husband, David.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, VA, with the Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
