Tropical Storm Andrea formed in the Gulf of Mexico earlier this week and is expected to sweep up the Eastern Seaboard.

The storm, according to Meteorologist Lyle Alexander with the National Weather Service in Wakefield, will mainly be a rain event for Franklin and the counties of Southampton and Isle of Wight.

Alexander said there would not be much of a wind issue inland, “but we will experience winds of 20 miles per hour, with gusts up to 30 mph Friday afternoon.”

He said total rainfall for Friday and Saturday would be from two to three inches with isolated spots getting four inches. Thunderstorms are possible.

The storm is not expected to strengthen any and is forecasted to move quickly.
