FRANKLIN—Thomas Franklin Spruill, 90, went to be with the Lord May 22, 2013 with his family by his side. Mr. Spruill was born in Creswell, NC, a son of the late Walton Chester and Mary Caroline Woodley Spruill and was predeceased by his son, Thomas Franklin Spruill, Jr., his brothers, Don, Carlton, Eric, Wendell and William Spruill and his sisters, Christine Blount and Vivian Spruill. Mr. Spruill was a World War II Veteran of the Army Corps of Engineers and had retired from Electrical Engineering in the Metrology Division of Norfolk Naval Air Station.

His loving family includes his wife of 67 years, Joyce Davis Spruill; two daughters, Brenda Joyce Bass and her husband, Jim, of Courtland and Vivian Leigh Sakis and her husband, Chris, of New Milford, CT; eight grandchildren, Paul Bass, Grace Blythe, David Bass, Rachel Rudd, Matthew Bass, Kara Leigh Sakis, Amber Sakis, and Joshua Sakis; and ten great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 25, at Wright Funeral Home with the Pastor Chris Sakis and Pastor Danny Dillon officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Southampton Memorial Park, Franklin. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and suggest memorials be made to any Disabled American Veterans Association.
