PORTSMOUTH—Irma Lassiter Bland, 87, died on Friday, May 3, 2013 at Consulate Healthcare in Windsor.

Born in Virginia, she was a school teacher for the Portsmouth Public Schools for 39 years.

She is survived by her son, Richard P. Bland and wife, Angie, of Windsor.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 3312 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, VA by Pastor Lisa Nordan with burial at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett’s Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, May 6.
