Deaconess Virginia B. Hunt

FRANKLIN—Deaconess Virginia B. Hunt of Cobb Street, Franklin, Va., passed April 15, 2013, while a patient in Courtland Health Care Center. She was born February 5, 1921 to Charlie and Virgie C. Barrett in Southampton Co., VA.
Deaconess Hunt was a member of Hickory Grove A.M.E. Zion Church where she served on the Senior Usher Board, Missionary Circle, Sunday School teacher and the Deaconess Ministry. She was also a member of the Monroe Missionary Circle.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie R. Hunt and sister, Clara Smallwood. Deaconess Hunt is survived by one daughter, Bernice Knight; two sons, Fritez “Freddie” Hunt (Mary Ann) and Reginold “Red” Hunt; one brother, Charlie D. Barrett; eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A homegoing celebration will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, April 22, 2013, Hickory Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, 1419 Mariner Street, Franklin, VA, with the pastor, Reverend Vanessa Hinton delivering the message of comfort. The committal and benediction is in Southview Cemetery. On the day of service, her remains will be placed in church for viewing by 10 a.m. A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M.
