COURTLAND—Ann Christine Gillette Brooks passed away April 13, 2013. Born in Lawrenceville, Va., she was a daughter of the late Bernard Augustus and Marguerite Abernathy Gillette and was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Ryland Hewlett Brooks, and two sisters, Frances Pittman and Susan Brenner. Mrs. Brooks was a former longtime bookkeeper for Manry-Rawls Insurance Co. and was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Beverly Brooks (John Kissinger) of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; two sons, Ryland H. “Ry” Brooks, Jr. (Sherry) of Summerfield, N.C. and Michael Brooks of Courtland; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Brandon Robbins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Courtland United Methodist Church and suggests memorials be made to Courtland UMC, 22416 Main St., Courtland, VA 23837.
