FHS Girls Tennis improves to 3-1

FRANKLIN—The Franklin High School Girls Tennis Team returned to the courts Tuesday, following spring break and avenged an early season defeat with a 6-3 victory over the Lady Eagles of Greensville High School.

Franklin and Greensville split the singles matches 3-3 with #1 seed Kate Vogel,  #5 seed Cheyenne Banks, and #6 seed Kaitlyn Trotter notching wins for the Lady Broncos.

With the match tied going into doubles, Franklin swept the three doubles matches with #1 seed duo of Vogel and Trotter winning their set 8-4.

The #2 pair of Rebecca Gray and Tyreccka Hawks fought back from a 1-4 deficit to win their set 9-8 (10-8) in a tie breaker.  And the #3 pair of Banks and Andrea Jacome fought off a tenacious Greensville pair to win 8-6.

In exhibition doubles, Franklin’s Tiko Bakhtadze and Wawijah Jones won 8-5.

Franklin improves to 3-1 and will play its next match at home against Brunswick High School Wednesday.
