FRANKLIN—Daniel Perry Barraclough, 63, of Franklin, Virginia, passed away in a tragic motor vehicle accident on Sunday, March 24, 2013.

He was born on April 29, 1949, to the late Perry Butler and the late Norene Jane Barraclough Kaluzny.

Dan was a mechanic and service manager for over 40 years before he retired in 2011.  He worked at several dealerships in Pennsylvania before moving to Virginia in 1996 and then worked at John Kool Lincoln Mercury in Portsmouth.

After retiring, he and his wife, Mary, opened up a small restaurant, Mary’z Café, in Newsoms, Virginia.  He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.  In his spare time, he enjoyed taking trips with his wife on their Gold Wing motorcycles and was an avid bowler. They are affiliated with Honda Riders of Tidewater and Gold Wing Road Riders Association.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Geary Barraclough, whom he married in 2001; six children, John Strawser of Elwood City, Pennsylvania, Corinna (Kevin) McConnell, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Scott Barraclough of New Port Richey, Florida, John (Tina) Geary of Franklin, Virginia, Jackie (Andrew) Worley Shultz of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Patrick (Jenna) Geary of Camp Lejeune in the United States Marine Corps; five grandchildren, Carson McConnell, Ashley Geary, Dylan and Savannah Worley and Emma Shultz; a brother, Gary (Kathy) Barraclough of Jackson, Ohio; a stepfather, Francis Kaluzny of New Kensington, Pennsylvania; three stepbrothers, Frank, Leonard & Bill Kaluzny and many other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Wright Funeral Home, with the Rev. James H. Hyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Family and friends will be received today (Friday) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
