Ada Mae Wells Newsome

IVOR—Ada Mae Wells Newsome, 80, widow of Clarence Albert “Curly” Newsome, passed away March 15, 2013, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Born November 9, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ida Mae Nelms and Withers Wells. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Carl Wells. Mrs. Newsome was a member of Ivor Baptist Church. She was also a former member of Ivor Rescue Squad and Ladies Auxiliary.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Clarence A. Newsome Jr. (Martha) of Windsor; daughters, Linda M. Newsome (Charlie) of Richmond and Amy N. Crocker (Allen) of Windsor; grandchildren, Christy Newsome (Parker), Dana Hodge (Jacob), and Daniel Crocker; great-grandchildren, Alisa and Hunter; sister, Mary Ann Newsome of Wakefield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Saturday, March 16, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Wakefield Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the funeral home. Burial followed at Ivor Cemetery.
