EMPORIA—The Franklin High School Girls Tennis Team opened its 2013 season on Monday with a 2-7 loss to Greensville High School.

The Lady Eagles won four out of six singles matches and swept all three doubles matches. The match highlights for the Lady Broncos were singles wins by #5 Cheyenne Banks and No. 6 Kaitlyn Trotter.

The Lady Broncos are led by returning veterans Tyreccka Hawks, Rebecca Gray, Banks, and Trotter. New to the top six are Andrea Jacome and Elizabeth Conner.

The doubles teams are all new pairings and although swept by Greensville, all three duos will improve as they gain experience playing with their new partners.

The Lady Broncos will next play at home against Southampton High School at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 22.
