Ivor—Frances Louise Fowler, 78, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was born in Boykins, Va., a daughter of the late Lloyd Reynolds Shaffer Sr. and Ella Gunn Shaffer, and was predeceased by three daughters, Betty Jean Stallard, Mary Frances Bell, Ginny Sue Ann Davis, and a brother, Harvey Roy Shaffer.

Frances was a member of Millfield Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, writing and serving the Lord through her prison ministry.

She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Diane Garner and husband Edwin Hal Garner of Ivor, and Nancy Faye Mills and husband Herbert H. “Ikey” Mills Jr. of Petersburg; one son, Charles Edward Fowler of Ivor; one sister, Virginia Shaffer Howell of Margaretsville, N.C.; one brother, Lloyd R. Shaffer Jr. of Franklin; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Wright Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, with the Rev. Brent Hobbs officiating. Burial was at Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins.
