FRANKLIN—Western Tidewater could expect 1 inch of snow on Wednesday from a storm system blowing in from the Northern Plains and traveling through the Ohio Valley.

The National Weather Service on Monday was calling for 1 to 3 inches, with the worst-case scenario being 4 to 5 inches. That changed by Tuesday.

“It’s decreased since,” said meteorologist Jeff Orrock with NWS in Wakefield. “It’s trending a little further north. It really looks like Western Tidewater will have a windy, rainy type of event.”

Western Tidewater can expect 100 percent chance of rain on Wednesday with temperatures in the mid to upper 30s, Orrock said. Rain should let up Thursday morning.

No freezing rain is expected.
