Franklin – Mrs. Ruby U. Haskins of Wilson Street, Franklin, VA, departed this life to claim her eternal peace on March 3rd. She was born in Northampton County, NC on August 16, 1919 to Thomas and Bessie P. Urquhart.

At an early age, she joined First Baptist Church in Severn, NC and attended school in Northampton County, NC. Later she located to Franklin, VA where she became a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Franklin. “Aunt Ruby” as she was affectionately called, was a Sunday School Teacher and became Trustee Emeritus as her health declined. “Aunt Ruby” was married to Horace Paul Haskins, the two were blessed to adopt two children, Johnnie Lee Urquhart and Alethia Urquhart Leveritt. After many years of service, she retired from Planter’s Peanuts.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Alethia; siblings, Lonnie T., Donnell M., Clifford, Whalon Lee Alma Urquhart and twin brother, Rudolph. Her memory will be cherished by twenty-one nieces and nephews, and cousins.

A homegoing service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2013, First Baptist Church, 318 Hall Street, Franklin, VA, with Reverend Henry Blunt delivering the eulogy; Reverend D. Shawrod Riddick, Jr. is pastor. The Committal and benediction is in Southview Cemetery. A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm. M.
