Richard Stephen “Steve” McDaniel

HARRISONBURG—Richard Stephen “Steve” McDaniel, age 59, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at his home in Harrisonburg, Va., after a long illness.

Steve graduated from T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.

He taught music at schools throughout Virginia, including at S.P. Morton Elementary School in Franklin, Va.

He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church in Franklin.

He is survived by his much beloved daughter, Michelle McDaniel Berra, and her husband, Matt, of Pembroke Pines, Fla. Steve is also survived by his sister, Mary Sue Lewis of Fairfax, Va.; and his brother, Timothy McDaniel of Austin, Texas.

He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Dorothy McDaniel, longtime residents of Vienna, Va., who moved to Lake Ridge, Va., in retirement.

Relatives and friends are invited to Steve’s Life Celebration at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, Va., on Saturday, March 9, at 3 p.m. Funeral service follows at 4 p.m.
