BOYKINS—Eleanor Petersen Barr, 88, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013.

She was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., a daughter of the late Alfred and Edith Hitchen Petersen, and the widow of Earl Russell Barr.

She was also predeceased by her niece, Joyce Premaza; and brother-in-law, Joe Premaza.

Eleanor was a retired registered nurse for the City of Philadelphia Public Health Department and a member of the Church of The Brethen in Philadelphia.

When Earl passed away in 1992, she moved to Boykins to be closer to family.

She attended Boykins Baptist Church and was a member of the GFWC Tarrara Women’s Club.

Survivors include her sister, Miriam Premaza; two nieces, Fran Edwards and husband, Glenn, and Dorothy Hickman and husband, Wilton, all of Boykins; four grand-nephews; one grand-niece; and two great-grand-nephews.

A graveside funeral will be held at 1 pm Saturday, March 9, at Beechwood Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond Bunn officiating. Viewing will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins.
