COURTLAND—Southampton County native James Norris Nichols, 74, died on Feb. 22, 2013, at Ellicott City Health & Rehab in Ellicott, Md.

The funeral will be held at noon Saturday, March 2, at the Church of God in Boykins. Burial will follow in the Haywood Family Cemetery in Zuni.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Hood Funeral Home in Conway, N.C.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife, Shirley Ricks Nichols; sons James Jr., Stevie and Tony Nichols, and Kelvin Ricks; daughters Patricia Harris, Sharon Nichols and Nellie Stith, brothers Joseph and Caleb Nichols; and sisters Charlotte Boseman, Gertrude Goode and Evelyn Nichols.
