FRANKLIN—A 24-year-old Franklin man has been charged with rape for allegedly having sex with a 12-year-old girl, Franklin police said.

The investigation continues into how many times Deshawnta Jones Sr. of 513 Campbell Ave. may have had sex with the girl between September and December, said Lt. Tim Whitt.

“It’s still under investigation for further charges,” Whitt said. “If it happened (more than once), he could face more charges.”

Police learned about the alleged incident from the victim’s mother, he said.

Jones remains in jail without bond.
